Death by Concrete
Driving through Fulwood on the outskirts of Preston I've noticed a lot of building work taking place recently - where last year there were fields and trees now there are red brick carcasses and areas of wasteland. Someone had put up a coffin shaped sign with the words 'RIP Fulwood. Death by Concrete' highlighting the demands our urban infrastructure is inflicting on nature. Researching the name 'Fulwood' I discovered it refers to a large area of ancient forest and as my focus is fixed on all thing arboreal I did some casting as a tribute to the fallen trees. I'm experimenting with materials, combining found wood, saw dust and concrete.
